My letter to the Reids~

 Good Sunday Morning,

I am just checking in to see how you are doing and to wish you a happy new year and hope you both made it through this past year.  Wow...what a year it was!!!
We started cleaning out mom and dad's house last Jan. to get it on the market in March.  We were able to hire a company to help us sell things and donate other things.  It was bitter sweet going through the stuff and everything brought back memories of wonderful days.  Kristin, Murray and I put in hundred of hours to get the house ready to sell.  Thank goodness it was a mild winter and I was able to make the trip up to FC weekly.  We were able to sell the house quickly in this Covid mess and we are so happy to have that project done.
Brent and his dog moved back home after he graduated from college and it was nice having his company and the dogs.  He stayed with us until Sept. when he moved to south Denver with his girlfriend.
We got a new puppy in May and we just love her to pieces.  She is a longhaired dachshund named Sunny and she is just what we needed during quarantine time.  She is my walking buddy and of course she is a wonderful addition to my lap in the evenings.
Annie (mom's sister) got sick in July and passed away in August.  Mom is not the only surviving sibling in her family.  So sad that she wasn't able to say goodbye.  Kristin, Murray and I drove her ashes back to Kansas to lay her to rest with Granny and Popo.  It was a wonderful weekend as a few cousins met us there to say goodbye.
Uncle Dave (Maridell's husband) passed away in November at the age of 97.  He was pretty sharp and very healthy up to his death.  About a month before he passed away he started failing both mentally and physically.  It was a blessing that he passed and didn't have to be moved to an assisted living facility.
Drew and Hannah surprised us in November that they were expecting a baby in April.  I am so excited and can't wait for the arrival of baby girl Wells.
Kent and I are doing well.  He has been working from home during this Covid stuff and is looking forward to retirement someday.  I have been walking daily since I can't go to the rec center.  The sunshine is good for my soul.
I miss mom and dad and look forward to the day we can visit without masks and give them a big hug.  They continue to decline every time we see the.  Dad struggles to fine his words.  It's so sad to watch him try to get a sentence out.  Mom just looks at us and never says anything.
Well, that's how our past year  went.  Would love to hear from you.
Miss you both and we send our love.

Susan B. Wells

Live for the moments you can't put into words.
